APK SHA-256 Verifier

Calculate the SHA-256 checksum of an APK or any other file directly in the browser. The selected file stays on the device and is not uploaded by this tool.

Calculate a file checksum

The verifier reads the file locally and produces a 64-character SHA-256 digest. Compare the result character by character with a checksum published for the exact file you intended to download.

If the embedded interface does not load, open the verifier in a separate tab. The source code is available in the public GitHub repository.

What a matching SHA-256 proves

  • Exact-byte identity: matching digests indicate that the compared files contain the same byte sequence.
  • Download integrity: a mismatch shows that the downloaded file is not identical to the reference file.
  • Repeatable verification: the same unchanged file produces the same SHA-256 digest.

A checksum does not prove that an application is safe, describe what it does after installation, or replace malware scanning, signature review, permission review, and runtime testing.

How to verify an APK in three steps

  1. Select the APK stored on the device.
  2. Wait for the browser to calculate its SHA-256 digest.
  3. Compare the complete result with the reference checksum. A one-character difference means the values do not match.

Privacy and browser compatibility

Checksum calculation runs in the browser. The tool does not need the selected file to be sent to the website or GitHub Pages. Processing time depends on file size, device speed, available memory, and browser support.

Continue checking an APK

A checksum is one part of file verification. Review the APK safety and verification guide, see the Android installation guide, or return to the Subway Surfers Mod APK hub.
